Sudur Paschim Samaj welcome the 6th September 2018 Supreme Court of India landmark decision on decriminalizing homosexuality .“The court has affirmed that no one should be discriminated against for whom they love or what they do in the privacy”. The judges unanimously ruled that consensual same-sex relationships are no longer a crime, deeming Section 377 “irrational, arbitrary and incomprehensible”. Overturning a 157- year-old law criminalizing LGBTI is a landmark victory for the world and we hope the decision to bring the changes in life of LGBTI in India and positive changes in the region. We would like to thank Judges of Supreme Court of India who involved in this decision and would like to congratulate all the LGBTI activists and supporters to make this happen.
